Description:

Willow is an exceptionally well-trained and gentle girl who found herself in rescue through no fault of her own. After the sad passing of her owner and a period of unsettlement, she is looking for a peaceful “retirement” from the noise of the world. She is the ultimate companion: house-trained, perfectly behaved on a lead, and incredibly polite with her food and treats.

Willow is a “clean” dog who avoids puddles, wipes her paws after walks, and doesn’t even jump on the furniture! She is deeply affectionate with people she knows, loving nothing more than a tummy rub. While she is a brilliant “doorbell” and will bark at newcomers, she is never aggressive and quickly settles once she knows you.

Willow’s unique history has left her very sensitive to loud noises. She is terrified of gunfire, hammering, and fireworks. Because of this, she requires: a rural sanctuary away from shooting estates or military training zones, a secure garden, no children (as sudden movements and loud noises cause her anxiety), a female bond as she naturally gravitates toward women and forms deep, loyal bonds with them. She can live with calm dogs but no small furries

She loves to hunt for mice and rabbits—it’s her favorite hobby! Willow is a dream on the trail. She has excellent whistle and name recall and walks beautifully on a harness. She knows a range of commands, including “hup” for the car and “in a bit” to move safely to the side of the road.

Thank you for your interest in Willow. If you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.

As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
