Description:
Two years ago, rescuers found a starving, chained mum called Sadie, curled against her emaciated body were seven freezing puppies. Only two made it through that first night. One was Treacle and one was his sister Toffee. Sadie and Toffee have a sofa and a lovely family, Treacle is still in a kennel
Every single day the kennel staff open the door, and every single day that beautiful black-and-white boy bounds out with the same huge smile and helicopter tail, as if today might finally be the day someone comes for him. Sadly playtime is over too soon and he returns to lie inside his kennel Alone. The staff give him affection when they can, but it’s never enough. He presses his whole body against them, begging “Please don’t leave me again!”
He is only two years old. Never been picked. Never been anyone’s “good boy” at bedtime. But Treacle is still hope in dog form. He walks beautifully on lead (just needs a little more confidence around traffic), he’s playful, gentle, dog-friendly, and so desperate to love a human that he practically glows when you look at him. His heart didn’t learn to give up, even when the world forgot him.
We are pleading for the home that sees what we see: A large, handsome, joyful boy who will light up your life and make you laugh every single day.
All he needs is:
• A kind, patient, experienced family
• A secure garden
• Rural or semi-rural location
• Ideally another confident, playful dog to be his friend and show him the world isn’t scary
• Someone willing to drive to Worcestershire to fall in love in person
If that’s you, if you have the space in your home and your heart, please don’t let Treacle watch another Christmas come and go behind bars. Treacle has waited long enough. Let’s make sure Treacle’s very first Christmas in the UK is spent in someone’s arms instead of alone in a kennel. He only needs ONE person to say “that’s my boy.”
Thank you for your interest in Treacle. If you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.
As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us. They haven’t had the best start in life, and therefore, it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual, and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden, or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult-only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs, and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
