MEET DONNIE: THE STUNNING BOY WITH THE SCRUFFY NOSE!
Are you looking for a “cheeky” companion with big soulful eyes and the most adorable scruffy tuft on his nose? Meet Donnie, a 7-month-old Shepherd mix who is ready to find his forever home
Donnie is currently in a foster home in Gloucestershire, with 8 other dogs of all sizes, and he is a total social butterfly. Whether it’s playing tug-of-war, chasing friends, or snuggling up for a massive fuss and a cuddle, Donnie is a boy who wears his heart on his sleeve. Loves a cuddle, and definitely loves to jump in the bed for morning cuddles he just melts into you
Donnie is sweet, loving, and entertaining to watch. He has that classic “puppy slouch” and knows exactly how to look innocent when he’s been a little bit cheeky. Donnie MUST live with at least one other dog. He thrives on canine company and loves to play. Donnie will play for up to an hour, but also likes to then chew on a bone, or mouth a toy, and watch the world go by definitely, he is definitely not an agility dog He has lived with cats previously (though not in the last 3 months).
Donnie needs a rural/semi rural home with a large secure garden (with lawn is a must). No children, please.
Donnie is fully toilet trained and walks beautifully on a lead in rural areas. He is HIGHLY food-motivated (he’ll do anything for a treat!), which makes him a dream to train. Donnie is starting to show his Shepherd roots, he is wary of strangers/workmen and feels the need to protect his family. He needs a home with previous experience with Shepherd or Guardian breeds to help guide him as he grows. Donnie gets so excited for food he literally paddles his feet. Because he can be a bit of a “brat” and try to steal food from other dogs, he is crate-fed to keep meal times calm and happy. He has learned to settle and chill when left alone (he may have a small whine in his crate but soon settles for a nap).
Please note that neutering will be a condition of adoption once he is of age
Thank you for your interest in Donnie. If you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.
As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
