Description:

Rescued just in time!

Imagine a cold, quiet yard in Romania. Two small, white shapes huddled together against the freezing winter wind. These tiny white bundles of innocence are Theo and Lucky, two year old Bichons who once had an owner to care for them. But when their elderly owner fell ill and was taken away by her family to live with them, the gate clicked shut, the house fell quiet and Theo and Lucky were left behind to fend for themselves. How scared and confused they must have been!

For months they waited huddled together through the depth of the Romanian winter, alone with only each other for company . The only reason they survived so long is because of the kindness of a grandmother living 30 minutes away. Despite the distance, she travelled as often as she could to put food in their bowls. She was their only lifeline. Sadly a very familiar story in Romania.

Neither were neutered and a tiny surprise was born and in the midst of the neglect and freezing weather, Theo and Lucky did their best to protect the innocent life they had borne. Miraculously their tiny puppy survived. A beautiful little girl we have named Libby. At just 10 weeks old, she has known nothing but the cold, hard ground of that yard.

When we received a desperate message from a lady in the UK pleading for help, we knew we couldn’t look away. She had reached out to local people and several rescues, but no one had come forward to help, her grandmother couldn’t continue to look after them, the situation had become desperate. Their lives were in danger, with no where to go and no one to care for them they would be taken to the public shelter, a place where small dogs like these rarely survive.

The problem – They were 7 hours away from anyone who could help, but “impossible” isn’t in a rescuer’s vocabulary. When rescues work together, with out ego, wonderful things happen, a series of calls began. Our dear friend Tracey from Amiccii dog rescue worked her magic and found a space with the wonderful Ioana. Then another call to Bogdan who agreed to drive a 14 hour round trip to bring them to safety.

Theo, Lucky and their little girl Libby are now part of the 1 dog family and have left that lonely yard behind. They have begun their journey toward warmth, soft beds, and a family that will never leave them. Theo is good with cats

Theo and Lucky are a bonded pair and we are looking for a home together

Thank you for your interest in Theo and Lucky. If you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.

As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.

We’d love to chat…
