Butch has had a desperately sad life in the UK.. He was in such a terrible state when he first arrived at kennels (a welfare case) and as no one wanted him he was only given 24 hrs before being put to sleep. We received an urgent call and were asked if we could help him. How could we turn the other way and refuse this sweet old boy the chance of happiness when his whole life has been that of neglect.
The team up at the kennels have been taking excellent care of him, he’s now on good quality food, he’s lost weight, and with the 3 small walks a day he’s building up his muscles and able to walk easier. His coat and whole demeanour is looking so much better.
The team up at the kennels say this of Butch. Butch has previously been labelled as “grumpy” but this is not the case. He is a sweet old man who’s prefers doing things in his own time. He would enjoy being able to wander around in the garden and have comfy places to lay down. Small and fluffy animals are a bit too exiting for him and so he would be better not living with them. He is fond of quiet and sweet female dogs but not so keen on large boisterous male dogs. He does like to communicate a lot, he rumbles, grumbles and groans when being petted. Butch will also communicate with his noises when he is not in the mood to do something but he is in no way “grumpy” or unapproachable. Butch loves company but also likes to have a bit of space as well to just chill. Although he needs to know that you are still there, he would love walks in the country and a garden to explore.
Now Butch is feeling better he is stronger on the lead especially when he first goes out until he settles, as he gets quite excited so he would need somebody that is not frail that is able to walk and hold him or someone with just a very very large garden that he can mooch around in and not always have to go out. Now that he is getting a little fitter he gets excited to go out for a walk and he’s getting quite strong and wants to run and play. Despite his age he’s actually quite active. Butch will need an experienced home with no children under the age of 16. He’s looking for a calm sensible family.

Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
