Description:

Rex is approximately 10 years old and has been kept on a chain his entire life.  A kind lady used to go and see him and offer him some affection, for years this lady tried to get Rex away from his horrible life but the owner wouldn’t allow her to.  One day he was released and turned out on the streets, some bigger dogs attacked him and bit him really badly, he needed treatment and the owner didn’t want to help so the lady was allowed to take him.

Rex is now safe at Happys. He has so much energy, and is loving life away from the 1 meter confines of a chain.  He’s such a character and if you don’t give him the attention he wants he will start speaking loudly, not barking, he just has his own way of speaking.  He is adorable!  He likes to play a lot, but he also bites when playing (he’s not aggressive, it’s just the way he plays). So a family with small children would not work as he may unintentionally hurt them.

He acts like a puppy, loves life, enjoys walks and seeing new things.  He is very clean in the house.  Even after his bad experience he is mixing well with other dogs so could live in a home with another small dog and he is ok with cats.

Update on Rex from previous Foster:-

Rex is a very kind and gentle dog, but he is still scared.  If you make a sudden noise he will get down, it looks like he was treated really badly in the past.  He is a sweetheart, all he wants is to cuddle.  He will crawl into your arms like a little baby and he wants lots of attention.  He is very good on a lead, walks really fine and doesn’t have any problem with food.  He is a very curious dog from what I’ve seen he adapts pretty fast to change. He had to stay somewhere else for a couple of nights whilst his Foster Mum was away but he was really fine with it. The first night he cried, but the day after he slept all night. He has a strong personality, but in a good way. And also, even though he is 10 years old, he has lots of energy. He likes to play and doesn’t get bored.  I think he would go better with a younger family, as he still wants to play a lot.  But I don’t think a family with little kids would be ok, as he sometimes bites when playing (he bites slowly, playfully, but maybe he could hurt a little kid). I would love to see him with a family who takes him everywhere, because you know, he stayed on that chain his entire life, so I want him to enjoy as many things and places as possible, he deserves all of that, the only problem is that he really doesn’t like other dogs.

If you think you could offer a Rex the loving home he so deserves.  Please fill out a registration form and one of our rehoming team will be in touch.

Thank you for your interest in Rex if you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.

As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them.  When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs.  Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive.  For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment?  Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home?  Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog?  Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you?  Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
